Fire safety
Fire safety is a shared responsibility between you as the resident and us as the housing association.
Your responsibility as a tenant
You also play a vital role in fire safety. Keep the following points in mind:
- Know the escape route
Discuss the quickest exit route with your housemates and agree on a meeting point outside. Call 112 in case of fire. - Keep escape routes clear
This is essential for a safe evacuation. We regularly inspect this in collaboration with the fire department. - Close doors in case of fire
This can slow down smoke and fire. - Pan fire?—never use water!
Use a lid or a fire blanket to extinguish the flames. - Extension cords
Never use extension cords for heavy electrical appliances. Avoid daisy-chaining multiple extension cords. Use only approved cords for low-power devices. - No storing flammable items outside
Keep flammable materials like wood or plastic away from the building. - Unplug unused devices
Disconnect chargers and devices when not in use. - Keep it clean
Keep the kitchen, washing machine, and extractor fan clean to prevent the buildup of flammable grease and dust. - Learn more about fire safety
For more tips about fire safety, check out the fire department's website or read the brochure on the right. - Join the Veste Wonen Safety Event
Learn from the fire department and use the escape room to practice evacuating during a smoke situation at our Veste Wonen Safety Event. We invite all tenants annually.
We ensure the house is delivered safely and take the following precautions:
- Smoke detectors are installed in common areas and where necessary.
- Fire extinguishers are placed on every floor and in shared spaces.
- Doors on escape routes are easy to open; we check this in collaboration with the fire department.
